*Right of Reply by First Secretary Zulifqar Ali*
*In Response to Indian Delegate’s Statement*
*During the Debate on Sixth Committee’s Agenda Item ‘Crimes against Humanity’*
(14 October 2025)
I am compelled to use my Right of Reply in response to flimsy statement made by the delegate of one country regarding Jammu and Kashmir.
2. India’s assertion that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India does not stand the test of history, geography, justice and fairness, and most significantly, the established canons of international law. It is, in fact, a gross travesty of truth, and a mockery of international law. Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory as per UNSC resolutions pending a final solution. Right of self-determination is the legal right of the Kashmiris as per UN Charter and UNSC resolutions — a right which India solemnly promised to the Kashmiris, and is yet stubbornly denying it on fictitious and frivolous pretexts.
3. Equally condemning is India’s attempt to obfuscate Kashmiri people’s just freedom struggle by portraying it as terrorism. It is ironic that these preposterous allegations are being hurled by a country which is running a global franchise of assassination campaigns against political dissidents, and is openly colluding with the terrorist outfits to sow the seeds of subversion and chaos in the neighbouring countries.
4. India would do well to realise that jugglery and acrobatics with words couldn’t legitimise its illegal occupation of Kashmir nor could the Reign of Terror established by occupying forces trample on Kashmiri people’s just and indigenous freedom struggle. It is for India to reflect as to why its overwhelming military presence has completely failed to snuff out the Kashmiri people’s aspirations for freedom and dignity.
5. Pakistan would continue to extend political and moral support to the freedom struggle of Kashmiri people, and continue to call for holding a UN-mandated plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, as per UNSC resolutions, and the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. International community should step forward to echo Pakistan’s demands for this noble objective for alleviating the suffering of Kashmiris.
