Pakistan and Bangladesh resumed their Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) after 15-year son April 17, 2025, in Dhaka. The meeting was led by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Md. Jahsim Uddin, reflecting a shared commitment to revitalizing diplomatic engagement. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including political, economic, cultural, educational, and strategic cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with recent high-level interactions and emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum through regular institutional dialogue and enhanced trade and connectivity. Pakistan offered academic opportunities in agricultural universities, while Bangladesh proposed technical training in fisheries and maritime studies. Connectivity was a key focus, with both nations welcoming the launch of direct shipping between Karachi and Chittagong and discussing the resumption of direct air links. Cultural exchanges were also highlighted, with Bangladesh appreciating recent performances by Pakistani artists in Dhaka and Pakistan encouraging reciprocal cultural events. On regional and global issues, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to revitalizing SAARC and discussed the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), emphasizing the need for a resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions. They also condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza, calling for an end to human rights violations. Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch also met Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Adviser Md. Tauhid Hossain, discussing regional integration and economic linkages. The meeting marked a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutual cooperation.
