Islamabad – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Authority of the United Arab Emirates.

Upon arrival at the Ministry of Interior, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi welcomed Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on matters of mutual interest, including counter-narcotics.

Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE in combating narcotics.

For this purpose, Pakistan appointed DG ANF Major General Abdul Mueed, while the UAE appointed Brigadier Tahir Gharib as special representatives to strengthen cooperation.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi appreciated the establishment of the National Anti-Narcotics Authority in the UAE and congratulated Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan on becoming its first Chairman.

“The establishment of the National Anti-Narcotics Authority in the UAE will promote cooperation between the two countries in the field of counter-narcotics,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

The Interior Minister assured Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan of Pakistan’s full cooperation in anti-narcotics collaboration.

“Pakistan is playing the role of a frontline state in the war against drugs,” Mohsin Naqvi emphasized.

He added, “Those involved in this heinous trade are being dealt with an iron hand.”

Naqvi further revealed that 400 suspects involved in drug smuggling to the UAE have been arrested and 5 tons of narcotics seized.

“This success was only possible due to joint efforts and timely exchange of information,” he noted.

He also said, “Recently, smuggling of synthetic drugs has increased, and a crackdown is underway against the mafia involved.”

“The war against drugs is the war of our generations, and defeat is not an option,” Mohsin Naqvi declared.

On the UAE side, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan assured all possible cooperation in counter-narcotics efforts.

He stated, “We must further strengthen bilateral cooperation in counter-narcotics so that we can provide a better future for our coming generations.”

The UAE delegation included Brigadier Tahir Gharib, Director Abu Dhabi Anti-Narcotics Department; Brigadier Omar Khulfan, Director Operations Department Federal Anti-Narcotics; Brigadier Khalid Ali, Director General Dubai Anti-Narcotics Directorate; Brigadier Ibrahim Jasim, Director Ras Al Khaimah Anti-Narcotics Department; Brigadier Majid Sultan, Director Sharjah Prevention and Anti-Narcotics Department; Colonel Muhammad Majid, Director Ajman Anti-Narcotics Department; Colonel Khalid Rashid, Director Fujairah Anti-Narcotics Department; Lt. Colonel Jamal Saeed, Umm Al-Quwain Anti-Narcotics Police; Lt. Colonel Saeed Muhammad, Director Abu Dhabi Anti-Narcotics Department; Major Muhammad Sultan, Anti-Narcotics Department; and Captain Salim Khamis, Assistant Expert Criminal Evidence.

From the Pakistani side, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Federal Secretary Interior, Special Secretary Interior, Additional Secretaries Interior, DG Anti-Narcotics Force, and senior officials were also present.
