44-member delegation of Sikh pilgrims from America met with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The delegation was led by Dr. Dilveer Singh Pannu, Sarjeet Singh Hothi, Ranjit Singh Kahlon, and Lakhshman Singh. Upon their arrival in Pakistan, the Minister greeted the Sikh pilgrims with “Ji Aayan Nu.” Minister Naqvi acknowledged that the Sikh community faced challenges when visiting Pakistan. He mentioned that during his time as Chief Minister of Punjab, he tried to address the issues of the Sikh community. He noted that the Sikh community often faced visa issues when wanting to visit Pakistan. “We have made the visa process online for the convenience of the Sikh community,” he said. Sikh community members holding American, Canadian, and UK passports can submit their online forms and obtain a visa within 30 minutes, according to Minister Naqvi. He emphasized that there is no fee for the online visa. This facility is also available for the Indian-origin Sikh community residing in the USA, Canada, and the UK. “Providing more facilities for the Sikh community is our priority,” Naqvi stated. “You can come to Pakistan 10 times a year; we will welcome you each time,” he added. The online visa application only requires filling out a form, and the visa will be available within 30 minutes. “Just as Saudi Arabia is for Muslims, Pakistan is for the Sikh community,” Naqvi remarked. He also assured that other locations in Pakistan for the Sikh community will be opened without the need for permits for visits. Places like Ahsen Abdal, Kartarpur, Nankana Sahib, and Lahore will also be accessible, he said, adding that they would resolve any existing issues. Currently, about 50,000 to 100,000 Sikh pilgrims visit Pakistan annually, but Minister Naqvi expressed a desire to increase that number to one million, including young people. Pakistan has made visa-free entry available for citizens of 124 countries, he noted. “So, Bismillah, come to Pakistan to watch cricket matches,” he encouraged. He invited them to come for the Champions Trophy and the Pakistan-India match, stating that a special quota is being reserved for them. He also mentioned that many people from India wish to come to watch the matches, and special arrangements are being made. The American Sikh delegation expressed their gratitude to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for the hospitality, saying that the free online visa process has greatly facilitated their visit. “You have won our hearts,” they stated. The delegation also expressed interest in investing in Pakistan. Prominent industrialist Kashif Ashfaq and other officials were also present at the occasion.
