United Nations, January 22, 2025: At the United Nations Headquarters, Ambassador Munir Akram held a meeting with Rwanda’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe. The discussions focused on bilateral relations, counter-terrorism efforts in Africa, and the situation in the Great Lakes region, along with other matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, Ambassador Munir Akram reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the principle of “African solutions for African problems” and highlighted the importance of this principle during Pakistan’s tenure on the Security Council. The conversation also touched upon the future of UN peacekeeping missions and African Union-led peace support operations, emphasizing the need for effective cooperation to maintain regional and global peace. Furthermore, Pakistan reiterated its strong support for Resolution 2719 and stressed the importance of its comprehensive and effective implementation. This meeting reflects Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in Africa and fostering constructive partnerships.
