Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad hands over DPM’s letter to President of UN Security Council
United Nations, August 5, 2025: Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, met with Ambassador Eloy Alfaro de Alba, Permanent Representative of Panama and President of the UN Security Council, to hand over a letter from Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, DPM/FM of Pakistan, on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019.
In the letter, the DPM/FM has drawn the attention of the Security Council to the grave human rights situation prevailing in IIOJK. He urged the Council to fulfill its responsibility by taking concrete measures for the implementation of its own resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, with a view to achieving a just, peaceful and lasting settlement in accordance with the UN Charter and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The letter has also been transmitted to the President of the UN General Assembly and the UN Secretary-General.
