Today, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad with the Honorable Prime Minister of China, Li Qiang, at the delegation level. During the meeting, both leaders discussed all aspects of bilateral relations and engaged in dialogue on regional and global matters of mutual interest. They expressed satisfaction that the Pakistan-China Strategic Cooperative Partnership, based on mutual trust and shared principles, is being further strengthened over time. Both leaders reiterated their support for each other on all core issues and expressed their commitment to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase 2. They also emphasized the need for timely completion of all ongoing projects in sectors such as industry, agriculture modernization, information technology, and science and technology, which are beneficial for both parties and for Pakistan’s socio-economic development. The two leaders expressed satisfaction that cooperation under CPEC has entered a new phase. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the commitment of Pakistan to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and projects in the country. Both sides agreed to continue high-level contacts, which will include strengthening cooperation in all areas. The discussion also covered the relocation of Chinese industry to Pakistan and strategies to enhance Chinese investment in the country. It was reaffirmed that Pakistan and China will continue to maintain close consultation on issues of regional and global significance and at multilateral forums.
